The sun was held high in the sky, emitting its searing rays at a high intensity. Heat beat down upon the forest in a cruel manner, forcing many forms of life to seek shelter underground or in a different cool location. No small breeze was present at the scene to bring some relief in the form of fresh air, and maybe even the ruffling of a cat's fur. But all had to deal with the thick, stagnent air which plagued the plains and woodlands for many days now, and many moons to come. Then again, this was better than the bitter weather that leaf-bare brought, and the life-draining hunger which always decided to accompany it. Small creatures hybernated during this time, leaving all felines to suffer for nearly four moons and eat whatever meager scraps of food that they could find.
Weaving through the meadow, a small she-cat came. The tall grass reached way over her head, so that only the crooked tip of her long white tail could be seen. She was taking her time, not in any hurry to be back at the camp, and quite enjoying her free time. Training had pretty much ceased for her, since her mentor died recently and all, but her training was already completed for the most part by that time. Granted, she did need to touch up on a few of her fighting techniques. Hunting was her specialty, small and agile, this she-cat was most likely one of the best hunters in her Clan, possibly in the whole forest. She was extremely fast as well due to her size, but it really did not matter to her. Those were some things that she was not in the least bit overly confident in.
After but a few minutes, blue eyes spotted the entrance of the camp, looming ever closer. This did not cause her pace to quicken, but only slow slightly, since she was so near her destination and decided to relax. But as she neared the tunnel, a voice rang out, stopping the older apprentice dead in her tracks. Moonstar was holding a meeting, no doubt to give out some warrior names and such, most likely not to herself, however. She was overlooked by many, and was used to it by this point in her life. Her whole family was killed in that accursed fire, and the only other cat after that to give a damn about her was her mentor, Goldenheart. He was a kind tom, but met his untimely death when he had a run-in with an agitated and hungry badger, but atleast it was quick and he felt no pain, she recalled.
Larkpaw pushed her way through the narrow tunnel, white pelt being tugged at by the clinging gorse. Once inside she saw much of her Clan gathered beneath Tall Stone, gazing intently at Moonstar to see what she had to say. The stunning white apprentice looked about, swirling blue eyes peering this way and that, mentally naming all of the felines once her sites befell upon them. Quetly she sat down, a bit late, to watch the remainder of the meeting. When she was not made a warrior, it was no surprise. Those other cats were older than her, anyway. Flameheart, Peachflower, Ravenwing! Called the beautiful femme, voice alluring and some-what mystical as always.

Flameheart looked over at his new apprentice. Fallpaw? Oh yeah, that scrawny-looking one. He padded over to him and grinned. "Hey, I'm Flameheart." He leaned forward and touched noses with him, a sign of a new mentor-apprentice pairing that had been with them for generations. "We'll start training later tomorrow, after our vigil. But now get to know the other apprentices, and get some rest." The tom turned and padded back to his friends.
Flameheart looked up at the she-cat that just entered. Wonder where she was. He thought for a moment, but then brushed it off. She wasn't his apprentice, he shouldn't have to worry. But truth was, Flameheart WAS worried. He had an odd feeling in his gut that danger was lurking nearby, ready for the kill. His eyes narrowed and he glanced toward the camp entrance that they would be guarding soon enough, and then padded towards it. "Come on, you two," He called to his friends and went to the vigil.

OOC: Huh? I made a long post that showed him touching noses w Fallpaw and then saying "We'll start training tomorrow, but now take time to rest." Then he went back and had thoughts of Peachflower. -looks for it- Huh? $#@$(*#$@. It's gone. I hate my computer.

Nodding determinedly at Moonstar, Peachflower turned to the young Larkpaw. The she-cat was beautiful and seemed nice enough. I hope I'm a good mentor to her.. she though worriedly to herself. Larkpaw wasn't far from becoming a warrior herself. Maybe Goldenpaw could become friends with her during the absence of Peachflower, Ravenwing and Flameheart. Touching noses with the apprewntice she smiled nervously. "We'll begin our training soon." she promised her as Flameheart called out to her and Ravenwing. At least I'll get to see him tonight.." she thought to herself, still worried. Maybe tomorrow at the fields they could talk more. She missed Flameheart. Everything was so awkward now. And she desperately wanted them to be the friends they had been so long ago.

Goldenpaw sighed as she watched her friends walk away. Then, deciding she had better make friends so she wouldnt be entirely miserable, she padde dover to Larkpaw. "Hey Larkpaw right?" she said to the white she-cat. "Hi..I'm Goldenpaw.."
Goldenpaw's ears pricked as Moonstar annouced her as her apprentice. Her blue eyes lit up with excitement and her fur stood on end. a real chance to porver herself ready to be a warrior! And what better way than to be the leader's apprentice. She smiled happily as she stepped forward to touch noses with her leader. Maybe today wasn't a totaly loss..

Ravenwing touched noses with Alderpaw. He smiled, then heard Flameheart call to him and Peachflower. "We'll train tomorrow." He nodded and followed Flameheart to start their vigil.

Licking a stark white paw, blue eyes flashed as the new warriors dispersed. She longed to have friends, since all of the ones she had previously made were dead or just disappeared all together, and she sincerely missed that sort of company. Larkpaw was the type of feline who needed to surround herself with many awesome cats that would always have her back, so that she could feel quite secure, and as if her life was not just a big waste of prey and oxygen. Before the fire, even for a little while after .. which seemed a bit odd, life was great. The white feline made friends with many of the cats around her age, and even had a few toms with crushes on her, since they had taken her flirty behavior the wrong way, as many still do. She missed the company, never being alone, and being able to talk to different cats forever.
But now she was scared. If she had no friends now, other cats in AirClan may think she is ... not one that they would want to be friends with because there must be SOME reason she had no friends, and try to stay away from her. If things had turned out that way, she could very well be alone forever... which would be much worse that death in her case. Friends made her who she was; a social, loveable, affectionate, and flirty she-cat. If none where around to appreciate all of those characteristics of Larkpaw, she was essentially nothing. Even when she was a kit, she would try to make friends with any thing, bugs, birds, not spiders because she hates them, and even older warriors. They thought she was so cute, but she was really trying to be friends with them.
Plus, without friends, Larkpaw was NOT alright. After a while, she started to act up a bit. Strange habits would then become a part of her life, and she would start twitching and laughing out of no where. Not having company effected her mentally, which was a strange a thing as strange things come. ((Did that make sense? XD)) There had only been one other time in her life in which she had lost all of her friends, but that was not for nearly as long. Soon she would begin to develop those odd ticks that she had been so intent on fighting. Infact, she had already begun to say stupid things, which was the biggest problem of all, so recently she had kept her mouth shut.
Almost as if on queue, Larkpaw's white ears pricked, now standing erect. Someone had just spoken her name? Turning, the white colored she-cat smiled, another apprentice of about the same age. She seemed friendly enough .. perhaps this feline was looking for friendship as well. Yes, I am Larkpaw, replied she, her melodic voice containing a hint of relief. She blinked her soft eyes slightly at the fellow apprentice as she spoke, she acted flirty towards any cat, even other she-cats. But she was NOT a lesbian kitty. Goldenpaw? Nice to meet you, I'm sure. Had she ever seen this tabby before? Likely, but spoken to was another story. Not that she could recall atleast, she had never said one word to Goldenpaw in her entire life. Strange.
Sparkling blue eyes widened in surprise, a mentor! Finally, for once, she had not been forgotten by her leader. She was beginning to think that she had become invisible, or died and did not yet know it. Heart full of joy, Larkpaw bounced a bit as she went to greet her mentor, knowing exactly who was assigned to her. Infact, Peachflower was just a couple of moons older than herself. It was not often that she got this excited. Gently she touched noses with her newest mentor, happy that she might be able to train soon and FINALLY become a warrior. Alright, thats fine.
